Privacy Policy
Resonote · Last Updated: 19 April 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Resonote (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our web application at resonote.dev (“the Service”). By using Resonote, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: Your email address and authentication credentials when you create an account or sign in (via Supabase Auth, including third-party sign-in providers such as Google, where available).
- YouTube video data: URLs of YouTube videos you submit to the Service for processing.
- Transcript data: Transcript text extracted from submitted video URLs and transcript text that you choose to paste directly into the Service.
- AI-generated content: Notes, summaries, and other structured content generated from your submitted videos or transcript. This content is stored and associated with your account.
- Note metadata: Tags, categories, quotes, prompts, and related note fields that are generated by the Service or added by you.
- Usage data: Information about how you interact with the Service, such as feature usage, library views, note saves, note deletions, device types, app environment, and request host. We may collect these through application event logs and operational logs.
- Local browser data: We may temporarily store pending note or transcript data in your browser session storage to support sign-in flows and prevent loss of in-progress work.
We do not collect payment information at this time as Resonote is currently free to use.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve the Service:
- To authenticate you and maintain your account.
- To process YouTube video URLs and transcript text and generate AI-powered notes on your behalf.
- To store and display your notes across devices and sessions.
- To save, organise, and retrieve your note metadata, including tags and related fields.
- To improve the reliability and performance of the Service.
- To monitor usage, debug issues, prevent abuse, and understand how the Service is being used.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, a third-party database and authentication provider. Data is stored on servers hosted by Supabase's infrastructure providers. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. You use the Service at your own risk.
We retain different categories of data for different periods:
- Notes and note metadata: retained for as long as your account is active.
- Usage and event data: retained for up to 12 months, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
- Account and authentication data: retained until you delete your account.
- Pending session data stored in your browser: discarded automatically within one hour or once the related sign-in flow is complete.
If you request deletion of your account or personal data, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify your information within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain certain data for legal, security, fraud prevention, or legitimate business purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
Resonote integrates with the following third-party services. Your use of these services is subject to their respective privacy policies:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage (supabase.com/privacy).
- Anthropic Claude API — AI processing of video transcripts to generate notes (anthropic.com/privacy).
- Supadata API — extraction of transcripts from YouTube video URLs (supadata.ai).
- Vercel — hosting and deployment of the web application (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).
- Google — authentication and account sign-in, where you choose to use Google sign-in (policies.google.com/privacy).
YouTube video transcripts are processed to generate notes. We do not access your YouTube account, watch history, or any data beyond the specific URLs you submit. If you paste transcript text directly into the Service, that text is processed in the same way as extracted transcript content.
5. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:
- With service providers listed in Section 4 above, who process data on our behalf.
- When required by law, court order, or other legal process.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Resonote, its users, or others.
- In connection with investigating security incidents, fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms.
In a future version of the Service, you may have the option to share notes or content with other users. If and when that feature is introduced, it will be opt-in and clearly disclosed.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR for users in the European Economic Area, and PDPA for users in Singapore) including:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to request correction of inaccurate data.
- The right to request deletion of your data.
- The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- The right, where applicable, to object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at resonote@shkhoo.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and, where required by applicable law, within the timeframe set by law.
7. Cookies and Tracking
Resonote uses cookies and similar technologies required for authentication, security, and core product functionality. We may also use browser-based local storage or session storage to support in-progress actions and user experience continuity.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. We may use analytics tools in the future; if we do, this policy will be updated.
8. Children's Privacy
Resonote is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our data practices, or applicable law. When we do, we will post the updated Privacy Policy on this page and update the “Last Updated” date above. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice, such as by email, in-product notice, or other reasonable means. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the revised Privacy Policy.
